
Lagos State Commissioner for
Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, has been honoured as the Best
Commissioner of the Year in recognition of his remarkable efforts in bringing
sanity to Lagos roads and raising the standard of transportation in the State.
Receiving the award, Opeifa applauded
the role of the media in national development and also commended media
practitioners for their unrelenting efforts in sustaining the nation’s
democratic system.
While commending Top Elegance Magazine,
the organizer of the award, the Commissioner revealed that though he had
received hundreds of nominations for various kinds of awards in recent past,
this however, is the very first award he
would be accepting as a Commissioner.
Leading
the speakers at the event was Her Excellency, Prof. Modupe Adelabu, Deputy
Governor of Ekiti State, who while congratulating the organizers of the event
and the awardees, praised the effort and courage of the media in the
enthronement of democracy in Nigeria.
She
tasked them not to relent in their quest to make our society a better place.
Speaking further, she commended media practitioners for their perseverance and
resilience as the watchdog of the society.
Expressing
his appreciation to all the Special Guests, Awardees and everyone who turned up
at the occasion, the Publisher of Top Elegance Magazine, Mr. Olabode Ajayi
promised to “remain committed to the principles and ethics of the profession.
Mrs.
Olufunso Amosun, the First Lady of Ogun State won the Best Socially Responsible
First Lady of the Year, while Senator Oluremi Tinubu went home with Best
Senator of the Year, Hajia Bintu Fatima – Tinubu – Best NGO of the Year, Mr.
Dele Alake – Lifetime Achievement in Media Practice among several other
deserving individuals.
